But the one that hurt that most was my parents. pisces moonI respect people with a backbone and have little or no respect for dishrags and doormats. My son's father, right or wrong he never let's anyone tell him what to do and how to do it. Though it was infuriating trait when we were together because he did not know how to use discretion when enacting it, and he did some pretty lousy things, I have hated him at points but honestly I have always respected the core trait as misdirected and unbalanced as it was.On the other hand my sisters ex. He makes me shudder because he was such a wimp. She'd say jump and he'd ask how high. Once she cheated on him and he actually apologized to her. There's way more crap but even though he never did anything to me I can't stand him because he is so weak. Even though my sister was very irresponsible by taking advantage of his weakness and I do not view that as a good thing at all, that he allowed her to do it is even worse to me. I could never be with someone who let me walk all over them. Who would do everything in their power to make me happy even at the expense of their own happiness and better judgement. To me that's not love-it's just desperation.LaraTEN.Respect is paramount. No Respect. No Relationship! RandallWow. I agree with all of that PM. I am sort of the same way as your son's father. I'm as anti-wuss as they come; however, I also have to juggle being understanding and considerate of others' feelings. It's a tough balancing act. For example, I can't let my girlfriend walk over me, but I do want to be giving. It's not always so easy to reach a healthy, happy medium. A strong man can still be sensitive and caring, as long as it doesn't go overboard. DDWhat Lara said.I actually can`t comprehend how anyone could even ask this question, or consider being in a relationship without being respected. That doesn`t sound healthy to me.How can you (generic you) say you love someone if you donīt respect them?RandallDD, I see it all the time. The guy shows the girl disrespect in public, so it's probably much worse in private, yet the girl believes he loves her. ------------------"A heart of gold cannot be borrowed, bought, or sold."DDRandall, yes I`ve seen it happen, too, but it`s just leaving me speechless. RandallNothing can fuction without respect...relationships, friendshps, countries...love me or hate me, but no one can forget me--and I hope that I am respected by most. ------------------"The earth is not given to us by our mothers and our fathers, it is borrowed from our children."LEXXAbsolutely required!remixel-pixelpixieOh Respect is HUGE. I don't think it can be measured or rated, but you most certainly know when it is lacking!teaselDefinitely huge. AcousticGodIt's of the utmost importance.
